About Me &

my  School

Enthusiasm is essential for both the student and the teacher. I believe that creating interest and gratification in students is key for their development in the language.

Students need to feel that English is now one of their own languages and not just some foreign language. I try to create this feeling by making the classes interactive and fun and I encourage students to express themselves and explore the rich cultural heritage that exists in English.

Who am  I..?

My name is Peter Walsh. I am from Dublin in Ireland and have been an ESL English teacher in Hondarribia for over 15 years. I take students from absolute beginner level to advanced level, from young learners through to retired adults. I teach exam preparation for the British Cambridge exams including the KET, PET, B2 First & C1 Advanced. I also help students prepare for university level exams such as the IELTS, TOEFL and the SAT.

I have compiled an elementary level vocabulary book which uses wordsearches and translation linking to help students learn new vocabulary in a more fun and enjoyable way. The book is available on Amazon in English-Basque and also in English-Spanish versions. Students can listen to and repeat the words from audio recordings included to help with pronunciation.

General English & conversation classes

Mis hijos de 11 y 13 años conocen a Peter desde hace varios años y están súper contentos… La clase semanal se les hace muy amena y considero que Peter tiene un muy buen método porque se les pasa el tiempo volando y están teniendo un muy buen nivel de inglés. El ambiente de clase y el trato es fenomenal, lo recomiendo sin ninguna duda tanto a niño, jóvenes como adultos. If you are looking for a good English teacher don’t doubt it!

Leire

Parent of 2 students, general English)

I returned to English classes a year ago with Peter because of professional requirements. He listened and understood my needs (especially business vocabulary and conversation) and he has adapted the course. In class I practice different skills like reading, listening, speaking with business vocabulary in a pleasant and enjoyable environment. Now, a year later, my pronunciation is better and I have advanced a lot in conversation and English comprehension.

Business English classes

Es el segundo año que mi hija de 8 años va a clases de inglés con Peter y todos estamos muy contentos. Ella sale encantada de cada clase y eso hace mucho más fácil el hecho de animarla a acudir a una extraescolar, sabiendo que a veces está cansada por el ritmo del día a día. Una de las cosas que más me gusta de la metodología de Peter es que los grupos son muy reducidos, lo cual hace que la atención sea mucho más personalizada y el aprendizaje es mucho más fluido y natural.
